GE Capitol Credit sent my wife a notice that she owes $5000 to an unnamed company. They further state that she has 30 days to respond or they'll put a negative report on her credit standing.

They want her to contact them and pay to have them tell her who she owes the debt to. I told her to ignore the letter, call the FTC and report it and ask their advice.

I've since found that GE Capitol Credit was involved in hacking WalMart accounts; which is probably where they got her data. NEVER REPLY TO THIS SORT OF THING; ESP WHEN YOU KNOW YOU HAVE NO DEBT WITH THEM.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

This persons account of what happened to his wife is extremely similar to my own. So much scamming going on these days, a lot.

"NEVER REPLY TO THIS SORT OF THING; "Wrong, always reply to this sort of thing just in case it's real. The worst thing that can happen is you lose a little time writing a dispute letter and paying for a return receipt. If this is legit, you' fraked mate.
